"THE TOTALISATOR AND EARLY COMPUTING".
CHARLES NORRIE relates the story of the development of the Totalisator, one of the earliest examples of the Computer - a mechanical computer, but nevertheless a device worthy of note and a stepping-stone along the road to the modern computerised world.

"HYDRAULIC POWER IN LONDON" .
TIM SMITH, of GLlAS, will give an illustrated talk about the use of Hydraulic Power in London, from the Bramah press to the London Hydraulic Power Company.

"(MORE OF) BRITAINS INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE – ON FILM". .
Mining, the fishing industry, the growing use of wind power - more fascinating movie film footage from the archives of ALLAN WILMOTT who has entertained us so well in the past.

"ALE AND BEER – ITS HISTORY AND ARCHAEOLOGY" .
GEORGE CRUTCHER'S talk will trace the fascinating history of beer and brewing from its domestic origins to the Industrialisation of the 19th and 20th centuries. Particular attention will be paid to the brewing industry in Hertfordshire and what became of it. The industrial archaeology of brewing will be explored and illustrated.

"RAILWAY ACCIDENTS" .
TOM DOIG will describe some of the more disastrous railway accidents, not so much from their technical aspects but more from the social implications resulting from them.

"THE SHUTTLEWORTH COLLECTION – ONE MAN'S LEGACY" .
Europe's largest collection of pre-1940 aircraft, plus vintage cars, motorcycles and more - still in working order and displayed regularly, as Richard Shuttleworth intended. General Manager JONATHAN PEELtells this highly unusual story.
